The Galathea at 41 on Great Nicobar is the southern beach that I spent 6 months on. The beach named after the river, the mouth of which it straddles. The river got its name from the first Danish expedition, aboard the Danish Corvette Galathea in the mid to late 19th century. Later expeditions to these islands were by the Austrians, British and recently the Indians.
